I teach trumpet, piano, organ, music theory and composition.
As a music teacher, my students - and their parents - have appreciated my ability to recognize the unique learning characteristics of each student, and to take an inventive approach in developing each individual's sense of music.
Individual Trumpet Lessons
I adjust my teaching to meet each student's needs. My customized programs of music lessons include:
Beginner's Guide to the Trumpet -- This course assumes no previous knowledge and goes through the fundamental concepts of music in a fun way that involves many practical examples of different types of music. Focus is on reading music and developing ear training, harmony, and good technique.
Advanced Studies in Trumpet -- Intended for the future virtuosos who are looking for a solid grounding in style, technique, music theory, and ear training.
Getting Back into the Trumpet -- Intended for the adult student who took lessons as a child and wants to get back in touch with the instrument. Lessons include accelerated review of the basics, re-building technique, and a broad study of many musical styles.
I teach privately on Manhattan's Upper West Side and in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn. Lessons also available via Skype.

Teaching Experience & Philosophy:
Before taking my current position as a church Music Director in Brooklyn, I was formerly the trumpet instructor with the Children's Orchestra Society in Manhasset, Long Island. In recent years, I've expanded my teaching to include vocalists, choirs and the training of organists. This broader perspective on music-making benefits all my students.
I believe that studying music expands one's mind in many valuable ways, and that private lessons help a student enhance his or her communicative skills, concentration, creativity, problem-solving, awareness, empathy, and understanding. Music practice can be a valuable form of meditation - a time of focused concentration - that students of all ages will find most welcome and valuable.
